Shlipbob

Shlipbob is a planet in the Spish galaxy. It's so close to the edge of the universe that it's almost in dead space (empty space). Because of that it is in a rough spot since galactic trade takes so long to reach it. Thankfully Shlipbob has access to a rare mineral named Bobbish.

Overthrowing of Shlippy II

In galactic year 2300, Shlippy III, the son of Shlippy II (the ruler at the time), staged a coup against his father so he could gain power of the throne. He was able to do that because before Shlippy III ruled, no Bobbish (This mineral is used in modern weapons and as such it's demand is very high because all the governments want to have the most powerful weapons) had been discovered and the planet was still a peaceful paradise planet, where everyone was happy, so no one expected a coup, and there was no army to fight Shlippy III, since everyone loved Shlippy II and no one wanted to fight. Secretly Shlippy III had been mining Bobbish after he had discovered it in 2291 and learned to harness its power in weapons. And so after he gained power of the throne he set up tons of Bobbish weapons around the palace so no one could fight him.

Transition from paradise to mining planet

Immediately after gaining power, Shlippy III started up a bunch of mining operations all over the planet, this caused lots of pollution from the Bobbish refining process and killed all the trees and filled the air with smog. Everyone works for Shlippy III at his mining facilities because they have no other places to work since Shlippy III used a Bobbish infused robot army to destroy all the homes and businesses to make people live at the mining facilities, where they could either work and eat shloppy food or not work and starve. Though that also means that there is a lot of offworld smuggling of Bobbish. The government of Shlipbob is so corrupt that they don't care about the smuggling. Shlippy III, just sits around and gets fat.

Restoration Society

Thankfully, a small group of scientists and rebels banded together to start developing tech and raising arms to restore Shlipbob back to a paradise. They used a small island called Shliphaven on the bottom of the planet as a home base, where geomagnetic storms stop any robot army from coming to them. On Shliphaven they had successfully restored the island to a paradise state, where there was actually trees and animals. The society worked to find a way to disrupt Bobbish tech weapons so that they can't function, so they could overthrow Shlippy III and restore the whole planet.

In 2341, Dr. Spilsh, the leader of the Restoration Society, was experimenting on ways to disrupt Bobbish tech when he found the solution. All they had to do is cause a geomagnetic storm across the planet, then they could start a revolt, since there would be no robot army to resist them.

Revolt and restoration of Shlipbob

After Dr. Spilsh made a geomagnetic storm generator (basically a huge spinning magnet the size of a house) in 2341, the Society was ready to start the revolt. They turned on the generator, and Shlippy III's weapons and robot army went offline. Around the world, the (enslaved) people on the mining rigs (once they realized that they no longer worked) started to destroy the robot army and weapons, using whatever tools they could find. Shlippy III got so scared at that point that he flew away in a ship he had, only to realize that geomagnetic storms and spaceships don't mix, his ship exploded. The Restoration Society hacked into the mining systems and made a global announcement on the mining rig displays, announcing that Shlippy III was gone, and that everything would be restored. Dr. Spilsh and all the other members of the Society went out to every mining rig and recruited everyone to start the restoration and a global tree planting effort. Using the seeds gathered from Shliphaven, they were able to start planting trees. Usually it'd take a long time for the trees to grow, but Dr. Spilsh also made a miracle-gro fert that would grow the trees at 30x speed. The air cleared of smog pretty soon after the mining rigs shut off. The smog all collected on the top of the planet, unfortunately surrounding an island now called Smogbob. Somehow, Shlippy III survived his spaceship exploding, only to land right on Smogbob. Now he's stuck there for the rest of his life.

Now Shlipbob is ruled by King Burby. He was originally Shlippy II's (the good king) right hand man. Under King Burby, the people are hap. The planet still mines Bobbish and sells it to other planets, but since the government is good now there's almost zero smuggling.
